Here's a few pictures of progress of some projects when each was one year in.

Start of the MandalaMarked out and MulchedFirst year growing!

Well, it's now early Spring of 2009 and we're off again, trying to see how many projects we can finish before the weeds and grass start growing faster than we can keep up!

Here's a shot of the area leading up to the Mandala garden last Spring.  I had started to make a path (on the left) but then ran out of time and materials.

April 2009 I decided to continue creating the paths.  After a busy day, I sat on the swing, contemplating the work I'd completed and felt that the triangle of lawn between the paths was just ripe for "lawn reclaim".  Goodbye to a bit more lawn!!

Next day we treated ourselves to two new apple trees and planted them in the triangle in two spots where they will give some summer shade to the sun room.   I added a couple of current bushes.

Then I began the sheet-mulching process, covering the remaining lawn with cardboard and weighing it down with straw (windy day!).  Now I have to find enough mulch to keep adding layers of organic material.

Looks like the stash of cardboard has run out again!

Goodbye lawn, hello fruit and herbs!
